Why we divide the stoichiometric coefficients while expressing the rate of reaction ?
Dear Student,
we divide the stoichiometric coefficients to get the rate of reaction because the stoichiomteric coefficients show the number of moles of a substance , and to get the correct rate of reaction we divide the rate of reaction.
For example 2A+BC
in this we write
this is because in the above reaction A is consumed faster so the actual rate of reaction (rate of formation of C) will be half of the rate at which A is consumed
I hope it is clear to you!'
Regards!
