Will addition of sodium hydroxide in distilled water make it non-electrolyte

Dear Student,

Actually, distilled water is purest form of water and contains only (H2O) and no other mineral or salts are present in it which could conduct electricity or ions as in normal tap water.

Here the pure H2O is a covalent compound where no salt or ions are present to conduct electricity. Hence, the distilled water is a non electrolyte

But the addition of NaOH makes distilled water to get their lost minerals back and results in formation of electrolyte.

Answer is ELECTROLYTE.

Regards.
