Write a letter to your cousin telling about choice of your profession

Dear Student.
Such questions are made for enhancing the self creative skills and should be tried answering on your own. However, here are a few points that will help you in framing your answer:
  • Choosing what you want to become in life is very important. It changes the whole trajectory of your career.
  • I chose statistics because it has a lot of scope in the future.
  • We are surrounded by data. Every single company is generating tonnes of data every day and so they need statisticians to handle that data.
  • You can also opt for data science or machine learning if you have interest in both computer and maths.
  • There are many jobs in this field in both government and private sectors. Business Analysts, consultants, Data Scientists, Statistical Officers are a few to name some.
You may feel free to contact us if you face any issue or difficulty while composing your answer. You can also send us your answers here for a feedback and required corrections, if any.

Dear Ajith,

Received your yesterday. I fully understand your situation. Deciding in a career is a pretty difficult task. But remember, the most important thing is is to know what your capabilities are and then decide what you want.

As far as I can see, you don’t like science, and you are a good speaker. This makes you capable of teaching or being a lawyer.

I think your ability to argue your way out of any situation will stand you in good stead in a courtroom. You are also an avid reader of crime fiction. So, law is not a totally unfamiliar subject for you. In fact, I am surprised the idea didn’t already occur to you. Maybe you are wary of the difficulties involved in becoming a lawyer.

I wouldn’t let that worry me if I were you. What is important is determination. If you like imparting knowledge, why then, teaching is the line for you!

I’ll think about other options also and then I will write again.

Till then keep your chin up, and don’t worry, something good will turn up.

Do write soon.

Your loving brother
