write a note on union of 1707

The following points may help you:

a. The merger between the  Parliament of England and Parliament of Scotland ,was the result of the  Act of Union that was signed between between England and Scotland in 1707 .

b. The Act resulted in the formation of the ‘United Kingdom of Great Britain’ and gave effect to the treaty of Union which was signed in the year 1706.

c. The act provided for the merger of two kingdoms that is England and Scotland under the same monarch/king.

d. With this merger Parliament of Great Britain came into existence.


e.  However, the British Parliament which so came into existence was dominated by the English members.

f. The Act also provide that any old laws which were against the provisions of the newly constituted act would be declared null or void.

g.  The act also provided for the creation of customs and monetary union.

h. The union brought into existence the Parliament of Great Britain.
