Write a short note on surface of moon

The surface of the moon does not look like the surface of the earth. Surface of moon is different from that of Earth due to the lack of atmosphere, meteoroids keep falling on the moon's surface etc.Moon's surface has many craters. Tectonic plates are absent on the moon surface, which makes its surface much different from the earth. Due to the lack of water and atmosphere, the lunar soil is noticeably dry and devoid of air. It also does not contain anything organic.
About one-third of the Moon’s near side is comprised of plains known as Maria.It is made up of lava formed from volcanic activities. They were once mistaken for seas on the surface of the Moon, hence the name Maria (Latin word for seas)
