Write differences between :
Systole - Diastole
Veins - Arteries
Xylem - Phloem

Dear student,

Systole Diastole
Rhythmic contraction of the chambers of the heart Rhythmic relaxation of the chambers of the heart
It helps in emptying of blood from heart

Following are the differences between arteries and veins:

Arteries

Veins

Arteries are thick walled

Veins are thin-walled

Blood flows under high pressure in the arteries

Veins bring back blood from the organs to the heart and blood is no longer under pressure.

They carry oxygenated blood except pulmonary artery which carries deoxygenated blood

They carry deoxygenated blood except pulmonary vein which carries oxygenated blood.

They carry blood away from the heart. They carry blood towards the heart.
Leads to refilling of heart with blood

XYLEM  PHLOEM
xylem transports water and minerals from the roots to aerial parts of the plant Phloem transports food and organic nutrients such as sugar and amino acids from leaves to storage organs and growing parts of plant.
On maturity Xylem exists as non-living tissue. phloem exists as living cells.
Transportation in Xylem is unidirectional i.e. can only move upward. Transportation in phloem is bidirectional i.e. can move up or down the plants stem.
Structure of xylem is tubular with hard walled cells Phloem is also tubular but with soft walled cells.
