Write the S.I. unit of G. Why is gravitational constant (G) known as universal constant ?

The SI unit of G is 6.67×10-11 kg-1 m3 s-2. Its value remains constant at anywhere in the universe this is the reason it is a universal constant. Its existence comes as proportionality constant.

G = 6.673 x 10-11 m3s2/kg

It is Universal law of gravitation because anywhere in the Universe same value og G is required to calculate the gravitational force.

1. Gravitational force is given by the expression:

F=GMm/R2

We know the unit of force is Newton or Kg m s-2

Mass has the unit of kg and R has the units of distance (m)

Thus the unit of G=kg-1m3s-2..

Universal gravitational constant- The constant of proportionality is called the universal gravitational constant....

2. The value of G (6.6742810-11m3kg-1s-2) will not change with position. That is, the value of G will be the same in the entire universe. So it is called as universal gravitational constant.
