x-y=8 and p=7x2-12y2, where x,y>0, what is the maximum possible value of p?
(A) 1075.2
(B) 352.8
(C) 957.6
(D) 604.8

Hi, make p in terms of x only from given , y = x-8 p = 7x2-12y2=7x2-12×x-82= 7x2-12x2+12×16x-64×12= -5x2+192x-768=-5x2-1925x+7685now making it perfect square by adding and subtracting the square of the half of the coefficent of x = -5x2-1925x+192102-192102+7685= -5x-192102+1843.2-768=1075.2-5x-192102now we know that x-192102 being a square quantity always 0so for max value of p ,  x =19210 so max value of p = 1075.2
