A body weighs 600g in air, 450g in water and 480g in a liquid.Then what is the relative density of the solid?

RD = frac{W_mathrm{air}}{W_mathrm{air} - W_mathrm{water}},

= 600/ ( 600 - 450 )
= 600/150
= 4 , This is the relative density of the solid wrt water

Mass in air = 600g

mass in water = 450g

Mass in the liq. = 480g

Relative density of the solid = Wt. of solid in air/ Loss of wt. in water = 600/600-450 = 600/150 = 300/125 = 60/25 = 12/5 = 2. 4
