A number is first increased by 25% and then decreased by 25%. Find the net increase or decrease percent.

Take for example the number 10

25% of 10 = 2.5

So 10+2.5 = 12.5

Now decrease the number 12.5 by 25%

25% of 12.5

= 3.125

12.500 - 3.125

= 9.375

10 - 9.375

= 0.625

Now loss is calculated by

0.625/10 * 100

= 6.25%

The loss is 6.25%
