A rectangular hall is 12m long and 10m wide. It is surrounded by a verandah 2m wide. Find out the area of the verandah.

Length of hall = 12m
Length of verandah = 12m + 2m = 14m
breadth of hall = 10m
breadth of verandah = 10m + 2m = 12m
Area of hall = 12 x 10 = 120m2
Area of verandah = 14 x 12 = 168m- 120m2 = 28m2
