Dear Student,

Main causes of tribal revolt were:

b.  Powers of the Tribal chiefs changed. They had to abide by the British officials and laws.
c. Jhum cultivation was banned in Reserved forest.

d.  Taxes were imposed on people.

e, Grazing and hunting were restricted as a result many nomadic communities lost their livelihood. It also resulted in loss of tribal control over forest resources.
f. It brought about displacement of people. The tribals lost their customary right to live in close harmony with nature.
g. T
he values of living in harmony with nature, of fairness, of freedom and justice were violated.
g. Tribals opposed such changes  and rebelled against British policies, against new laws and restrictions.
h, We may  give example of how People in north east rebelled to restore their traditional practise and establish control over their area of inhabitation.
i. In Orissa for instance, some groups like The Khonds of Orissa were hunters and gatherers. Some were also cattle herders like Gujjars of Punjab hills. In many other parts British created categories of reserved protected forests, and prevented villagers entry into them. People rose against the British laws that deprived them of their traditional practises.

j. We may also give example of
Birsa movement  which aimed at restoring the culture of the tribals which was affected by the colonial policies. He wanted to drive out the â€‹movement,  missionaries, moneylenders, Hindu landlords, and the government that were a threat to the tribals and their lifestyle.
