Answer all the questions quickly
Dear student,
a) The process studied is transpiration
b)Loss of water through the pores present in leaves called stomata in the form of vapours is called transpiration. The stomata are the small pores present in the leaves. Transpiration helps the plants to take nutrients from soil. It also keeps the plant cool in hot weather conditions.
Here, the pot is covered with an plastic sheet so that transpiration experiment set up could not get influenced by soil water evaporation and we could get only the droplets of transpired water on the bell jar from the aerial parts of a plant.

Role of transpiration in plants is as follows:
- Creates transportational pull for transport of water in plants.
- Provides water for photosynthesis.
- Helps in the uptake of minerals from soil to upper parts of plant.
- Cools the surface of the leaves (due to the evaporation of water).
- Keeps the cells turgid; hence, maintains their shape.
