Are ocean currents caused by coriolis force?

Yes, ocean current are due to the coriolis force. Streams of water moving along definite paths are called ocean currents.
Winds push the surface of the ocean water and a major force in creating ocean currents. Ocean currents thus tends to reflect the wind patterns above them due to the coriolis effect.
