Global warming is the one of the adverse effect of CO2. This effect is also called as “Atmospheric Effect or carbon dioxide problem’’. The earth is heated by sunlight and some of the heat that is absorbed by the earth is radiated back into space. However, some of the gases in the lower atmosphere, acting like glass in a greenhouse, allow the solar radiations but do not allow the earth to re-radiate the heat into space. In other words, these gases in the atmosphere are transparent to the sunlight but not to the heat radiation, which the earth sends back. So they trap and re-emit the heat to the earth’s surface. The net result is the heating of the earth’s surface by this phenomenon, which is popularly known as ‘Greenhouse effect’.
