Excess protein consumption is bad for our health. It is because high amount of proteins could cause liver and heart problems. Symptoms such as nausea and diarrhoea could also occur due to this.
Proteins are broken down to amino acids and enter the blood stream. When there is too much amino acid, it gets converted to other products by the process of deamination in liver. Liver converts the nitrogen present in the amino acid to ammonia, which is converted to urea by the liver. The excretion of urea is taken care of by kidneys.
In case of kidney damage, protein intake is cut down by Physicians.
Excess protein intake could also lead to weight gain.
