If a cell has 32 chromosomes then the chromosome number remains same because mitosis is an equational division thus at metaphase, the chromosome number does not change.
As the chromosome number remains same but the chromatids get double during replication at the synthetic phase of Interphase. So DNA content will gets double. However, it gets divided at anaphase and thus the chromosome number remains same.
