Find an AP whose 2nd term is 10 and the 6th term exceeds the 4th term by 12.

Dear Student,

Answer given by @Rumia is correct except the 5th step, there should be a+d=10 instead of a+d=1.

let the 2nd term be
a + (2 - 1)d
= a + d  .......(i)

ATQ,
a + d = 1

6th term:
a + (6 - 1)d
= a + 5d

ATQ,
a + (6 - 1)d = a + (4 - 1)d + 12
5d = 3d + 12
2d = 12
d = 6

from (i)
a + d = 10
a + 6 = 10
a = 4

So the AP is

4, 10, 16, 22, 28...
