How does air helps in movement of boats and yachts?
Dear Student,
Sail-boats are powered only by the wind, can travel easily with the wind at their backs. The Wind inflates the sail and put pressure on the sail to make it move forward.
When wind blows against the boat at an angle, it also inflates the sail, and it forms a foil shape, creating a difference in pressure that pushes the sail perpendicular to the wind direction.
Hope this will help you.
