How does politics influence the caste system and caste identities?

Politics influences the caste system when it uses vote bank politics. Some politicians have a strategy of alluring a section of the society that has been marginalised and underdeveloped by using caste based divisive wedges in the society. They either seek for vote from the section of caste they belong to or announce forms of reservations, privileges for the sections of caste , they seek the votes from. This way, they overplay the role of caste in politics. Reservation was an affirmative action introduced by Bhim Rao Ambedkar to be continued for only 10 years but it continued because the politicians gained from it.
