To find the rational number between $\frac{1}{4} \mathrm{and} \frac{1}{8}$; first we make the denominator of both rational number same as;
$$\begin{gathered} \frac{1}{4}\times \frac{4}{4} = \frac{4}{16} \\ \frac{1}{8}\times \frac{2}{2} = \frac{2}{16} \end{gathered}$$
So the rational number between $\frac{2}{16} \mathrm{and} \frac{4}{16} \mathrm{is} \frac{3}{16} \mathrm{not} \frac{1}{16}.$
Therefore $\frac{1}{16}$is not a rational number between $\frac{1}{4} \mathrm{and} \frac{1}{8}$.
