# meritnation experts i cannot understand the eg 4 in the first lesson of data handling

In the said example, we have to find two numbers between the given numbers. These two numbers will lie between the given numbers. The steps followed are as follows:

1. First number can be found by calculating the mean of the two numbers as the mean always lie between the two numbers.

2. Now, the second number can be calculated by calculating the mean of the first number given and the mean obtained in step 1 or by calculating the mean of the second number given and the mean obtained in step 1.

The mean of two number always lies in between the number for example, consider two numbers 6 and 8, their mean can be found out by dividing

their sum by 2, i.e.,

Mean of 6 and 8 =

Similarly mean of number  and  is obtained by dividing their sum by 2 as

Similarly to find another mean, we have choose the obtained number and one of the given number i.e.,  and

∴ Two numbers two lie between  and  are  and .

Hope you get it!!
