Q.15. A pole of height 14 m casts a shadow 10 m long on the ground. At the same time a tower casts the shadow 70 m long on the ground. Find the height of the tower.
This is a direct proportion question.
The answer goes like this:

Height of pole(in meters) 14m x
Length of shadow(in meters)10m 70m
x1/y1 = x2y2
=14/10 =x/70 (then cross-multiply)
=10x = 14*70
= x = 14*70/10
x=14*7
x=98
The pole is 98 meters high.
