However, the daughter caught the merchant while cheating. So, she deliberately dropped the pebble that she picked from the merchant and claimed that she had not seen the colour of the pebble. She asked the merchant to show the other hand. As the other hand of the merchant had a black pebble, so the judge ruled that the pebble that the merchant dropped was white. So, the merchant failed to marry the daughter.
