(a) For minimum deviation, angle of incidence must equals to the angle of emergence. For it to happen the monochromatic beam of light must pass parallel to its base.
(b) If a white light is used in the same way, the light emerging from the prism will disperse into seven colours. The maximum deviation is suffered by the voilet light while the minimum deviation is by the red light.
