20. Parul has a piece of land which is in the shape of a rhombus (see fig.) She wants her daughter and son to work on the land and produce different crops. She divided the land in two equal parts. If the perimeter of the land is 400 m and one of the diagonal is 160 m, how much area each of them will get for their crops?

Since perimeter of Rhombus = 400 m,

each side = 100 m.

Using Pythagoras theorem,

AO² = 100² - 80² = 10000 - 6400 = 3600

AO = 60m

SO AC = 2(AO) =120m

Area of Rhombus = 1/2 * Product of diagonals = 1/2 * 160 * 120 = 9600 m²

The area that each of the children get = 9600/2 = 4800 m²
