pls answer Thanks

Dear Student ,

In 1608, the East India Company's first ship arrived at Surat. In 1615, Sir Thomas Roe, reached out to the court of the then Mughal emperor Jahangir , in order to get a farman to establish  a factory at Surat. With that Farman , the english started the full-flegded trade in India . Under the Mughal patronage, the British set up the first factory in Surat  which was then followed by the acquisition of Madras in 1639, Bombay in 1668, and Calcutta in 1690.

The influence of British in Jahangir’s court :
In 1600CE , the Britishers came to India with the intension of trading.  Two ambassadors, Captain William Hawkins and Sir Thomas Roe, were sent to Jahangir’s court to seek permission for the same. Jahangir gave the English permission to set up a trading post at Surat.

Regards.
