Environment is prime concern to many people. People are following eco-friendly habits. During Diwali bursting of crackers is one main thing. People spend lots of money for purchasing of crackers and make them ashes with in no time. There is chemical pollution and sound pollution leading to increase of carbon dioxide levels. Many people are deciding not to burst crackers and use money to give charity.
The most important part of Diwali is tradition of fire works which gives color, lighting and noise. We can see brilliant display of fire works in different form of color and design when the crackers are exploded. The three days people celebrate night and early morning exploding the fire works. People distribute sweets to friends and relatives and exchange gifts.
During olden days people lit the house with earthen diyas, but modern world people consume much of the electricity. And crores of rupees will become ashes because many people burnt the crackers which leads to environmental pollution and toxic chemicals used in the crackers releases the toxic gases and which will harm people, many people get injuries at the time of bursting of crackers. The crackers are manufactured in Siva Kasi where child labour is engaged for making of the crackers.

How to celebrate environmental (Eco) friendly Diwali.

•Do celebrate the festival of lights with less pollution and do help poor people by offering food and clothing rather than spending huge moneyfor purchasing crackers.

•Follow the principle of nature conservation, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Rethink Refuse.

•Consume less electricity to light your house as we are in the age of energy crisis, and we are indirectly polluting the mother earth.

•Explode few crackers for the significance of Diwali.

•Explode less noise crackers as this will help aged and others and you will also help in avoiding noise pollution.

How to Celebrate Eco-Friendly Deepawali?
Listing the various environmental and health hazards caused due to present form of Diwali celebration doesn’t means to stop celebrating the festival. But definitely the way of celebrating this auspicious festival can be changed. Listed below are few environment friendly tips to celebrate Diwali 2008:
Instead of individual celebration prefer community celebration. With the increasing trend of gated community all the families of the community can celebrate Diwali in the common space. This will ensure reduced cost of celebration; paper pollution in a limited space and as compared to individual celebration, community celebration will cause less air and noise pollution.
Even while celebrating commonly make sure that you limit your celebration for a limited period of time. Your celebration can last for maximum 3 to 4 hours.
Before selecting the place for common community celebration make sure that it is far away from hospitals. Instead of selecting crowded areas it is better to opt a open ground.
Instead of selecting traditional chemical cracker this Diwali go for eco-friendly crackers. Eco-friendly crackers are made up of recycled paper and the sound produced by these crackers is under the decibel limit defined by the Pollution Board. These crackers produce paper fluffers and different color lights instead of sound on bursting.
Instead of electric illumination go for traditional lightening of earthen lamps or diyas. This will not only enhance the beauty of your house but will also cut down the enormous electric consumption. Though earthen lamps need oil but the quantity is less and it gives light for at least 3-4 hours.
Cut down your shopping list and avoid purchasing unwanted and unnecessary things this Diwali. Excess consumerism is directly related to the consumption of raw material used to manufacture those things. Excessive consumerism increases the undue pressure on the natural resources.
Instead of buying “one-time use” items go for recyclable things. Secondly while cleaning your home for Deepawali instead of disposing things it is better to give it to under-privilege people.
Celebrate Diwali 2008 with a different meaning. You can celebrate this Diwali with poor and under-privilege children. Share your Diwali crackers, sweets and happiness with poor children.

The phrase, ‘Diwali without crackers’, is often referred to as ‘eco-friendly diwali’.i.e., celebration of Diwali festival in a way that do not post threat to the environment.

Diwali Crackers are the firecrackers that comprises of substances that explode on lighting to make loud bursting sound.

In course of time, the ‘festival of light’ has become the ‘festival of crackers’, posing serious threat to the environment.

Reasons to celebrate Diwali without firecrackers:

1. Fire crackers contribute towards air pollution. They release harmful gases, smokes, and other chemicals in the environment, and contribute towards air pollution.

2. Many firecracker factories engage children as labors. To put a stop to this, usage of firecrackers should be stopped at once.

3. Firecrackers should be handled with care. There are safety risks involved with firecrackers.

4. Firecrackers do not come cheap, and is often a wastage of money.

5. Human-beings as well as animals are disturbed by the loud noise of firecrackers. Sick people the worst affected.

Hope it helpful......
