Watermelon flowers cannot be self-pollinated. This is because watermelon is a dioecious plant. Therefore, both male and female flowers are present on different plants. The pollen from the male flower must reach to the stigma of the female flower in another plant for fertilization to occur. That is, it favours cross pollination. Hence, watermelon cannot be self fertilized.
