area of inner circle+ area of outer circle= 116 cm2
area of circle=${\mathrm{\pi r}}^2$
so it means $\mathrm{\pi }({\mathrm{r}}^2+{\mathrm{R}}^2)$=$116\mathrm{\pi }$
sum of squares of both radii= 116
and also distance is 16 cm, difference of radii becomes 16 cm
we have two equations and two variables
$$\begin{gathered} R-r=16 \\ squaring R^2+r^2-2Rr=256 \\ put R^2+r^2=116 \\ so 2Rr=-140 which is not possible \\ so in this question \\ R-r should be 6 so that R^2+r^2=116 \\ answer in that case would be r=4cm and R=10cm \end{gathered}$$
