Tawa Matsya Sangh was formed by the fishing community which resided
in and around the Tawa reservoir This community's main source of
livelihood was fishing and their rights of fishing in the Tawa
reservoir was sold by the government to the private contractors in
the year 1994 The contractors drove these local community away in
order to get cheap labour from outside When these local people
refused to leave they were threatened by the contractors In order
to protect their rights, the local people decided to form an
organisation This gave rise to the â€‹Tawa Matsya
Sangh
