Cancer is a chronic disease; it means that chronic disease is lifelong.
Cancer can be acquired in many ways:-
1. Genetic inheritance:-  there are many genes responsible for cancer, such genes are passed on by mother or father which are responsible for overexpression and causing various types of cancer such as ovary cancer, breast cancer, colon cancer etc.
2. Genetic mutation:- there are various factors that can cause mutation in the genes such as deletion, addition or substitution because of a faulty gene regulation. Such mutation results in cancer for example retinoblastoma (eye cancer).
3. Smoking:- smoke inhaled from nicotine and tobacco produce mucous in the lungs, such mucous and smoke cause cell proliferation in the lining of lung and causes deadly cancer such as small cell cancer and squamous cancer.
4. Alcohol:- Long term alcohol use can cause liver cancer by increasing the work load of liver.
5. Along with these there are numerous factors such as using contraceptive pills, exposure to asbestos and silica, radiation exposure, UV light exposure can cause cancer.
