"Sound produced by the buzzing of a bee is shriller than the roar of a lion. This suggests that buzzing of a bee has higher frequency of oscillations than the roar of a lion. Likewise, the voice of a child is always shriller than the voice of a man." Why it is so???

Dear Student,

Shrillness is a basic measure of pitch and in turn the frequency. Child's vocal chords are smaller hence they produce a sound with higher frequency which results in high pitch voice. As the child grows the voice becomes deeper as the vocal chord also grows producing low frequency sound waves as compared to earlier stages of life.

Regards.
