The arrival of the goldfinch on the tree brings about a change in the poem. How do you interpret this change? Is change good or bad in life.

In 'The Laburnum Top', the poet portrays the goldfinch as an enlivening element in the otherwise silent and still tree top. With her arrival (like an alert lizard) in the "thickness", the tree starts up like a machine. Its presence makes the tree appear to be full of activity.
