the boiling point of metallic zinc is 920 C yet the carbon reduction operation of zinc oxide is carried out at 1300 c-1400 c...why???

The temperature for reduction is selected not on the basis of boiling point of metal but also on the temperature at which the bond between metal and oxygen can be broken to form metal and carbon dioxide. The zinc obtained after reduction is in its vapour form only.
