# The perimeter of a rectangle and a square are same. If the length and breadth are 25cm and 17cm respectively, find which figure has greater area and how much.

Length of rectangle = 25 cm
Breadth of rectangle = 17 cm
Perimeter of rectangle = 2(Length + Breadth) = 2(25 + 17) = 2(42) = 84 cm

Also, area of rectangle = Length $×$ Breadth = 25 $×$ 17 = 425 cm2

Now, we are given perimeter of square and rectangle is equal

Therfore,

Perimeter of square = 84 cm
$⇒$4(Side of square) = 84
$⇒$Side of square = 21 cm

Area of square = Side $×$ Side = 21 $×$ 21 = 441 cm2

Thus, we can see if a rectangle and square have same perimeter then area of square will be greater than area of rectangle.
