The Postmaster proves to be an epitome of compassion and generosity. Reading Lencho's letter makes him realise the immense faith that Lencho has in God. To help preserve that faith and extend a helping hand to a man in need, the Postmaster collects money from his colleagues, adds a sum himself and send it to Lencho. He does true charity as Lencho does not even learn that it is actually the Postmaster who has sent him the money!
