In the play "The Proposal" Lomov presents his marriage proposal to his neighbour's daughter. But he enters into an argument about oxen meadows. The girl's father also argues with him. After finishing one argument they have another argument about their dogs. They forget about the marriage proposal and Lomov falls off due to his palpitations. Chubukov gives her daughter's hands to Lomov. But quarelling doesn't end.
