Two equal and opposite forces can produce oscillatory motion?

Dear Student,
Two equal and opposite forces cannot produce oscillatory motion. In fact it can't effect the state of the object as the resultant of their combination is 0. For example, placing a negative charge between two positive charges and midway between the line joining the two positive charges. Then the negative charge is having an unstable equilibrium. If the negative charge is pushed closer to any of the positive end charges, it will be pulled towards it.
