what are the similarities between sand and sugar ?

Both sand and sugar are solids made up of small particles.Each particle of sugar and sand has a definite shape and volume and maintain it shape and volume on slight pushing or pressing.Both sugar and sand fill the container and appear to flow like liquid when pored out.
