what does parentheses mean?

Parenthesis implies "either or both of the two punctuation marks "( )" used to enclose text, a sum, a product or a particular mathematical entity. Parenthesis can also contain written content that digresses from the main theme or topic. Even though what is written in a parenthesis deviates from the topic or subject in question, the matter in the parenthesis has some sort of relevance to the content which is outside it.
