What does this line "planet's life supporting zone" mean here, is there a "planet's non- life supporting zone" as well? And also what is hydrosphere and lithosphere??
Dear student,
Please find below the answer:
The biosphere is the total sum of all living organisms present on earth. It contains all biological components including the dead organic matters produced by the living organisms. It includes lithosphere, hydrosphere and atmosphere.
The biosphere is dynamic with several activities. In biosphere the solar energy gets trapped by the primary producers (plants). Biosphere proves the statement perfectly that ‘Earth is a living planet’. A hostile environment like no availability of water, oxygen etc. makes a planet non-supportive for life to prosper.
The hydrosphere is the liquid water component of the Earth. It includes the oceans, seas, lakes, ponds, rivers and streams. The hydrosphere covers about 70% of the surface of the Earth.
The lithosphere is the outer solid part of the earth. It is made up of crust and upper mantle.
Hope this clears your doubt.
Regards.
