What if the Earth will become the Jupiter's moon?

Dear student,

All the major moons of Jupiter are in Tidal lock with Jupiter, which means thet keep one hemisphere facing Jupiter, like the Moon, which is locked to Earth. So, in this case Earth's rotation would slow to it's orbital period. That rotation would then be determined by the orbital distance. So day length could be quite long. Values for the major moons range from about 40hrs to 400hrs. Not likely as surface temperatures would soar during the 8 day daytime, and plummest during the night.
When the planet is closest to the moon the tidal forces are quite strong, causing huge tides, earthquakes, and volcanism, likely making the planet uninhabitable as well.

Regards.
