What is  an   echo? What  is  the   minimum  distance  needed  to  hear    an echo?

Dear Student ,

Echo:An echo can be defined as the phenomena of the reflection of sound produced by a source placed in a relatively open environment after it hits a distant obstacle like a cliff etc. The sound waves that have bounced back can be heard at the source a few seconds after it was produced.

The velocity of sound in dry air is approximately 343 m/s at a temperature of 25 °C. Therefore, the reflecting object must be more than 17.2m from the sound source for echo to be perceived by a person located at the source.
