what is difference between the chromosome number half and DNA content half in cell division

Solution:

Half the number of chromosomes and half the amount of DNA means that there are gametes which carry half the number of chromosomes as compared to somatic cells which carry full set of chromosomes. When gametes from two organisms combine with each other, the full set of chromosomes is formed in resulting offspring.

So, a gamete (i.e. sperm or egg) has DNA amount of 1c and chromosome number as 1n. Upon fertilization, both the DNA content and the number of chromosomes doubles to 2c and 2n, respectively.
