Guillotine emerged during the French Revolution to behead the people. The word "guillotine" is named for a French physician, Joseph Ignace Guillotin (1738-1814).It had a sharp blade that fell down on the neck of the person who was tied on the long bench type structure.It was used mostly at the time of Maximilien Robespierre and became the primary symbol of the Reign of Terror.King Louis XVI was executed by guillotine in the Place de la Revolution in Paris.
