What is meant by superiour and inferiour colliculi?

Please do tell the meaning of colliculi in lamen langauge/

Dear student,
Superior colliculus is the part of mid brain involved in visual processing and is present in pair. It is found in mammals.
Inferior colliculus is the midbrain nucleus which is present inferior to the superior colliculus. It is the nucleus present in auditory pathway in the mid brain.
Colliculus is the protrusion of the mid brain.
