Potential Energy is the energy possessed by a body by virtue of its position deformed shape is called potential energy.

P.E=mgh

SI unit=joule

ex:-1. the energy possessed by stored water in a dam is due to its position.

2. a stretched or a compressed spring has its energy due to its shape.
