1. The word sedimentary is derived from the word ‘sedimentum’ means ‘settling down’
2. Sedimentary rocks are formed by accumulation and hardening of sediments such as mud, sand, silt and disintegrated rocks over a period of time.
3. They are arranged in layers and found over a large area of earth.
4. Examples of sedimentary rocks are: Sandstone, clay rocks and shale etc.
