what is the difference between reflection and deflection of light?
Hi Amritha!
Reflection:
When light falls on a surface, the direction of the ray is changed. This change in direction is known as reflection of light. The reflected light travels to the same medium it came from.
Deflection:
In physics, deflection means the event of bouncing back of an object, when it collides with a plane surface. The corpuscular theory of light explains the reflection of light with the help of the deflection of small light particles (corpuscles).
Diffraction:
The phenomenon of bending of light around the corners of an opaque object which obstructs the path of light is called diffraction. Interesting patterns are observed when a monochromatic light is diffracted by a small slit.
Cheers!!
